KAI Kompetenzzentrum Automobil- und Industrieelektronik GmbH, AUSTRIA

KAI is an interdisciplinary research centre for power electronics, wide band gap and metallic materials with a proven record of reliability testing methods, modelling, and materials characterization using synchrotron. It presents an established interface between academia and Infineon. KAI is also used to FAIR data management and implementation of data pipelines. In AddMorePower KAI will be involved in most of the activities, provide expertise in open science practices and lead WP2.

IFAT is the key development site for wide bandgap power semiconductors of Infineon Technologies AG and one of the biggest power semiconductor R&D and manufacturing sites in Europe. Energy efficiency, mobility and security are the central global challenges that Infineon addresses with its semiconductor and system solutions. IFAT will provide use cases for AddMorePower to demonstrate and validate materials characterization and modelling methods and will also take the lead of WP6.

ESRF is the main European synchrotron facility, and currently the most intense source of X-rays worldwide. ESRF provides unrivalled opportunities for scientists in the exploration of materials and living matter in many fields. Within AddMorePower, ESRF provides Synchrotron X-ray based characterisation, multimodal characterisation and space correlation for microscopy, the development of novel operando and in-situ characterisation methods, and will lead WP3.

CNRS is a leading European transmission electron microscopy (TEM) centre, highly experienced in characterisation of crystalline defects such as dislocations, grain boundaries, stacking faults, governing the mechanical and electrical properties of the materials. CNRS represent a reference in the world of research and development, as well as for the general public. In AddMorePower, CNRS will use and develop TEM-techniques, and lead WP4.

Institute of Physics of Materials (IPM), Czech Academy of Science, CZECH REPUBLIC

IPM has broad experience with non-equilibrium thermodynamic modelling of processes in solids under thermomechanical loading using extremal principles, and will model the relationship between the behaviour and properties of materials. IPM aim is to elucidate the relation between the behaviour and properties of materials and their structural and microstructural characteristics. IPM will mainly be active in WP5, by contributing and leading the tasks.

KU Leuven is currently by far the largest university in Belgium in terms of research funding and expenditure (€ 650 million in 2022). KU Leuven conducts fundamental and applied research in all academic disciplines with a clear international orientation. The Computational Materials Science group of Prof. Martin Diehl will lead WP5 and develop computational tools and models to bridge from the scale of individual dislocations via grain-scale continuum models to meta-models suitable for industrial use.

UL-LEM3 is a centre for transdisciplinary experimental and theoretical research of Université de Lorraine, combining mechanics of solids and metallurgy, materials science, chemistry, and physics. The department is contributing to materials research by developing new devices for electron microscopes. In AddMorePower UL-LEM3 will mainly contribute ro WP4 and WP5.

TEC is a private, independent SME with a highly specialized multinational team. It is dedicated towards engineering services as well as the planning, assessment and coordination of large industry driven international research projects. TEC will ensure a secure transfer of data and focus on ethics and gender dimention within the project. Together with the coordinator IKTS, TEC will closely monitor the achievements of project and provide the support to the coordinator. In addion, TEC’s innovative media team will make sure to properly communicate and disseminate the project progress in diversified ways.
